Engage & Connect At

ALBERTA ALIVE

Alberta Alive’s mission is to celebrate and strengthen Portland’s historically Black North/Northeast neighborhoods by providing affordable housing, supportive services, and a shared community for underserved individuals and families. More than just four walls and a roof, home at any Alberta Alive building is a place and community where the history–present and future–of the Black community is ALIVE, and you can live with the confidence that you belong.

With the vision to champion the renaissance of Black North/Northeast Portland, Alberta Alive fosters a vibrant community where residents can connect with neighbors and the greater community. This, in turn, opens doors to local opportunities for individual and communal investment, nurturing the growth of Black legacy through generations.

Resident Resources

SERVICEs & PROGRAMMING

All Alberta Alive communities will offer culturally-responsive resident programs and services tailored by Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) — Oregon’s largest African American-led nonprofit multi-service organization working with underserved youth and families to provide support, guidance, and opportunities. SEI will provide onsite events as well as connections to its many programs at their Center for Self Enhancement, less than a mile from the building. SEI’s programming includes after-school youth activities and financial management, credit repair, and homeownership education, as well as connections to other resources and services. All programs and services will be specifically designed to meet the needs of Alberta Alive residents and families.

Residents living in all Alberta Alive buildings can take advantage of the programs offered at the nearby historic Alberta Abbey, just a few blocks away from each site. The Alberta Abbey, operated by the non-profit Alberta Abbey Foundation, is dedicated to supporting the local community by providing affordable commercial and event spaces for local artists, businesses, and community organizations.
